[AND] the people of Lot gave the lie to [one of God's] message-bearers 160 When their brother Lot said to them: 'Will you not be cautious? 161 I am for you a faithful Messenger, 162 So fear Allah, and obey me. 163 And I ask of you no wage therefor; my wage is the concern only of the Lord of the Worlds. 164 "Go you in unto the males of the 'Alamin (mankind), 165 and leave your wives whom your Lord has created for you? You are a people who transgress all bounds." 166 Said they: "Indeed, If thou desist not, O Lot, thou wilt most certainly be expelled [from this township]!" 167 He said: I am in truth of those who hate your conduct. 168 My Lord, deliver me and my people from that they do.' 169 We saved him and all of his family 170 Except an old woman among those who remained behind. 171 Then We destroyed the others. 172 and rained down upon them a rain [of destruction]: and dire is such rain upon all who let themselves be warned [to no avail]! 173 Surely in this there is a sign: but most of them would not believe: 174 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 175
