The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
The hour drew nigh and the moon did rend asunder. 1 And if they see a sign, they turn away, and say: "This is continuous magic." 2 And they denied and followed their inclinations. But for every matter is a [time of] settlement. 3 And withal, there has come unto them many a tiding that should have restrained [their arrogance]: 4 Effective wisdom; but warnings avail not. 5 So (O Muhammad SAW) withdraw from them. The Day that the caller will call (them) to a terrible thing. 6 with downcast eyes they shall come out of their graves, as if they were locusts milling about 7 running with outstretched necks to the Caller. The unbelievers shall say, 'This is a hard day!' 8 ۞ The people of Noah denied before them, and they denied Our servant and said, "A madman," and he was repelled. 9 So he prayed to his Lord: "I am helpless, deliver me." 10 So We opened the gates of heaven, with water pouring forth. 11 And We caused the earth to gush forth with springs. So the waters (of the heaven and the earth) met for a matter predestined. 12 And We bore him on that which was made of planks and nails 13 which floated on the water before Our very eyes. The flood was a recompense for the deeds of the disbelievers. 14 And indeed, We have caused such [floating vessels] to remain forever a sign [of Our grace unto man]: who, then, is willing to take it to heart? 15 How was then My punishment and My commination! 16 And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 17 'Ad also gave the lie (to Hud). So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 18 We let loose against them a violent roaring wind on a day of ill omen, continuous, 19 It swept people away as if they were trunks of uprooted palm trees. 20 How [dreadful] was My punishment and My warning! 21 But We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 22
