The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 No! They are going to know. 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 and luxuriant gardens. 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 It will be a place of return 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 , A fitting reward. 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
