He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The Prophet frowned and turned away 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace) 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 As for him who considers himself free from need (of you), 5 to him didst thou give thy whole attention, 6 though you are not to blame if he would not cleanse himself. 7 but as for one who comes to you, eagerly 8 And he feareth 9 Of him wast thou unmindful. 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 Exalted, Purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Noble, virtuous. 16 Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah; 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 Then when He pleases, He will bring him back to life. 22 No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, 25 And We split the earth in clefts, 26 to yield therein corn, 27 together with grapes and vegetables, 28 Olives and dates, 29 And dense gardens, 30 And fruits and fodder: 31 all this as a provision for you and your cattle. 32 AND SO, when the piercing call [of resurrection] is heard 33 on a Day when everyone will [want to] flee from his brother, 34 his mother and his father, 35 and from his spouse and his children: 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 Some faces will shine, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 but others will be gloomy 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. 42
