The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 About which they have been differing? 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 and made the night a covering, 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 except boiling water and pus 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
