The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the angels who violently tear-out the souls of the disbelievers from their bodies, 1 And by those who gently draw out the souls of the blessed, 2 And those who glide swimmingly, 3 and those that outstrip suddenly 4 and thus they fulfil the [Creator's] behest! 5 The Day when the quaking will cause a violent convulsion, 6 to be followed by further [convulsions]! 7 hearts will throb on that Day 8 Unable to lift their gaze. 9 They say, "What? shall we be brought back to life, 10 even after we have turned into decayed bones?" 11 They said: That then would be a return occasioning loss. 12 It will only be a single blast, 13 And lo! they will be awakened. 14 Has the story of Moses reached thee? 15 When his Lord called to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 Go to Firon, surely he has become inordinate. 17 “Tell him ‘Do you have the inclination to become pure?’ 18 Then I will guide thee to thy Lord and thou shalt fear (Him). 19 And he showed him the greatest sign, 20 But he denied and disobeyed, 21 Then turned he away in haste, 22 Then he gathered and cried aloud, 23 Then he said: I am your lord, the most high. 24 So Allah seized him with the punishment of the Everlasting Life, and of this world. 25 Indeed in this is a lesson for one who fears. 26
