The unbelievers say: 'When we and our fathers are turned to dust, shall we be brought forth? 67 We have been promised this, we and our forefathers, before. This is not but legends of the former peoples." 68 Say: "Travel in the land and see how (bad) was the end of sinners." 69 And grieve thou not over them nor be straitened because of that which they plot. 70 And they ask: 'When will this promise come, if what you say is true' 71 Say: "The chastisement whose hastening you have been asking for, maybe a part of it has drawn quite near to you." 72 Truly, your Lord is bountiful to mankind, but most of them are not grateful. 73 Verily your Lord knows all that their hearts conceal as well as all that they reveal. 74 And naught there is hidden in the heaven or the earth but it is in a Manifest Book. 75 BEHOLD, this Qur'an explains to the children of Israel most [of that] whereon they hold divergent views; 76 And it certainly is a Guide and a Mercy to those who believe. 77 Surely, by His Judgement, your Lord will decide between them. He is the Mighty, the Knower. 78 Trust in God for you follow the manifest truth. 79 [But,] verily, thou canst not make the dead hear: and [so, too,] thou canst not make the deaf [of heart] hear this call when they turn their backs [on thee] and go away, 80 just as thou canst not lead the blind [of heart] out of their error; none canst thou make hear save such as [are willing to] believe in Our messages, and thus surrender themselves unto Us. 81 ۞ When God's word is justly carried out against them, We will produce a dabbah from the earth which will tell them that mankind had no real faith in Our signs. 82
