The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
The Hour has drawn nigh: the moon is split. 1 Yet if they see a sign (the unbelievers) turn their backs and say: 'This is but a continuation of sorcery' 2 They have cried lies, and followed their caprices; but every matter is settled. 3 And surely there hath come unto them news whereof the purport should deter, 4 The pinnacle of wisdom – so how will the Heralds of warning provide any benefit? 5 So turn away from them, (O Prophet). On the Day when a caller shall call them to a thing most terrible, 6 They will come out of the graves with downcast eyes like an expanding swarm of locusts. 7 Hastening, with eyes transfixed, towards the Caller!- "Hard is this Day!", the Unbelievers will say. 8 ۞ (Long) before them the nation of Noah belied. They belied Our worshiper saying: 'Mad' and he was reprimanded. 9 Then he called on his Lord: "I am one overcome: do Thou then help (me)!" 10 Then We opened the gates of the heaven with rain pouring down 11 And caused the earth to gush forth springs, so that the waters met for a predestined purpose. 12 And We bore him upon a well-planked vessel well-caulked 13 Floating under Our Eyes, a reward for him who had been rejected! 14 And We left it for a sign. Is there any that will remember? 15 How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 16 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 17 'Ad (people) belied (their Prophet, Hud), then how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 18 We sent a raging wind against them on a day of continuous calamity. 19 Carrying men away as though they were trunks of palm-trees uprooted. 20 How was then My punishment and My commination! 21 We have made the Qur'an easy to derive lessons from. Is there, then, any who will take heed? 22
