The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 About which they have been differing? 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 It will be a place of return 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30
