Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
HAS NEWS OF the Overpowering Event reached you? 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 be toiling and worn-out; 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 and will be made to drink from a fiercely boiling spring. 5 For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 well pleased with their striving, 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 with a flowing spring, 12 and couches raised high, 13 And goblets ready placed! 14 And arranged carpets. 15 And carpets spread around. 16 Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created? 17 And at the sky - how it is raised? 18 And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 So, [O Prophet] exhort them: your task is only to exhort, 21 thou art not charged to oversee them. 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves – 23 God will punish them with the greatest torment. 24 Surely to Us is their return; 25 Then it will be for Us to call them to account. 26
