The tribe of Ad rejected the Messengers. 123 Their brother Hud said to them, "Will you not fear God? 124 I am a trustworthy messenger for you: 125 fear God, then, and obey me. 126 I seek of you no reward for this; my reward is with none but the Lord of the Universe. 127 "Do ye build a landmark on every high place to amuse yourselves? 128 and erect huge palaces as though you will live for ever, 129 And when you strike, you strike as tyrants. 130 So fear Allah, and obey me. 131 And fear He who provided you with that which you know, 132 succoured you with flocks and sons, 133 gardens and fountains. 134 Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a dreadful Day' 135 They said: it is equal unto us whether thou admonishest or art not of the admonishers. 136 “This is nothing but the tradition of former people.” 137 "And we are not going to be punished." 138 Then they accused him of lies; so We annihilated them. Verily there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 139 Surely your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 140
