Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
60 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Dunes (Al-Ahqaaf) before Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the winds which scatter dust, 1 then the bearers of weight (the clouds), 2 and the smooth runners 3 and execute the great task of apportioning (rainfall): 4 Verily the promise made to you is true: 5 and, verily, judgment is bound to come! 6 By the beautiful heavens, 7 Lo! ye, forsooth, are of various opinion (concerning the truth). 8 and are turned away from him who is turned. 9 Perish will those who just guess and speculate, 10 Who are careless in an abyss! 11 'When will the Day of Judgement be' they ask. 12 Upon the day when they shall be tried at the Fire: 13 Taste your burning: this is that which ye sought to be hastened. 14 The righteous shall live among gardens and fountains, 15 Receiving what is given them by their Lord. They were surely the virtuous before this. 16 They used to sleep but little of the night, 17 And every morning asked forgiveness, 18 and the beggar and the outcast had a share in their wealth. 19 For those with sure belief there are signs in the earth, 20 As also in your own selves: Will ye not then see? 21 And in the heaven is your provision and whatever you are promised. 22 And by the Lord of the heavens and the earth, it is the truth, even as (it is true) that ye speak. 23
