A multitude of those of old 39 And a crowd of the later. 40 Those on the Left: how unfortunate are those on the Left! 41 [They will find themselves] in the midst of scorching winds, and burning despair, 42 And shadow of black smoke, 43 Neither cool nor beneficial. 44 and before that they lived at ease, 45 But persisted in that greater sin, 46 And said: "What! When we are dead and turned to dust and bones, shall we then be raised again? 47 "And also our forefathers?" 48 Say: The first and the last, 49 will indeed be gathered together at a fixed time on an appointed Day. 50 Then you, the erring ones and those that gave the lie to the Truth, 51 you shall eat of a tree called Zakkoum, 52 "Then will ye fill your insides therewith, 53 and will thereupon have to drink [many a draught] of burning despair 54 like a thirsty camel". 55 This is their reception on the Day of Justice. 56 We have created you, why do you not then assent? 57 So what is your opinion regarding the semen you discharge? 58 Did you create it or was it We who created it? 59 We have [indeed] decreed that death shall be [ever-present] among you: but there is nothing to prevent Us 60 From replacing you with others or raising you in a way you do not know. 61 And [since] you are indeed aware of the [miracle of your] coming into being in the first instance - why, then, do you not bethink yourselves [of Us]? 62 See ye the seed that ye sow in the ground? 63 is it you that sow it, or are We the Sower? 64 Had We wanted, We could have crushed it to bits and you would have been left to lament, 65 “We have been penalised; 66 Aye! we are deprived! 67 Have you ever considered the water which you drink? 68 Is it you who sent it down from the clouds or is it We who have sent it down? 69 If We willed, surely We would make it brackish. Wherefore give ye not thanks? 70 And have you seen the fire that you ignite? 71 Is it you that originated its tree, or are We the Originator? 72 We, even We, appointed it a memorial and a comfort for the dwellers in the wilderness. 73 Therefore (O dear Prophet Mohammed peace and blessings be upon him) proclaim the Purity of the name of your Lord, the Greatest. 74

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
