Al-Hijjr 5 of 6
When the messengers came to Lot and his family, 61 he said: "Behold, you are people unknown [here]!" 62 They said: Nay, we have come to you with that about which they disputed. 63 We have come to you for a genuine purpose and We are true in what we say. 64 So travel with thy household in a portion of the night, and follow thou their backs. Let none of you turn round, but go whither ye are commanded. 65 And We made plain the case to him, that the root of them (who did wrong) was to be cut at early morn. 66 The people of the town rejoicingly 67 Said Lot: "These are my guests; do not put me to shame, 68 "But fear Allah, and shame me not." 69 They answered: "Have we not forbidden thee [to offer protection] to any kind of people?" 70 He said: Here are my daughters, if ye must be doing (so). 71 By your life, (O Prophet), they went about blindly stumbling in their intoxication. 72 Then the shout took hold of them at the sunrise. 73 We turned the town upside-down and showered on them lumps of baked clay. 74 Surely! In this are signs, for those who see (or understand or learn the lessons from the Signs of Allah). 75 And surely it is on a road that still abides. 76 Lo! therein is indeed a portent for believers. 77 And indeed the Dwellers of the Woods were unjust. 78 So we took vengeance on them; and lo! they both are on a high-road plain to see. 79

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
