He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 for how can you know that he might seek to purify himself, 3 or he might be mindful and good counsel might avail him. 4 Now as for him who believes himself to be self-sufficient 5 To him you give attention. 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 And as for him who cometh unto thee running, 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 you pay him no heed. 10 Assuredly this is a reminder 11 So whoever wishes may remember it. 12 Inscribed in Writs honoured, 13 Exalted and purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 noble and pious. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 From what has God created him? 18 From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him; 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 and in the end He causes him to die and brings him to the grave; 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). 22 Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. 23 Let the human reflect on the food he eats, 24 That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 We make the grain grow out of it, 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 And gardens of dense shrubbery 30 And fruits and herbage 31 an enjoyment for you and your flocks. 32 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- 33 upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, 34 and his mother and his father; 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. 42
