The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
When the sun is overthrown, 1 the stars are made to fade away, 2 And when the mountains are driven. 3 And when the she-camels big with young shall be abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together; 5 And when the seas are filled with flame 6 and when all human beings are coupled [with their deeds,] 7 and when the girl-child that was buried alive is made to ask 8 for what crime she had been slain, 9 when the records of men's deeds are laid open, 10 And when the sky is torn away, 11 when Hell shall be set blazing, 12 And when the garden is brought nigh, 13 then shall each person know what he has brought along. 14 So I swear by the retreating stars - 15 stars which are visible during the night 16 The closing night, 17 The rising dawn, 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 The processor of strength, having an honorable place with the Lord of the Dominion, 20 obeyed by (all creatures) and faithful to His trust. 21 And your companion is not insane. 22 he truly saw him on the clear horizon; 23 he is not niggardly of the Unseen. 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 So where are you going? 26 This is naught else than a reminder unto creation, 27 for whosoever of you would go straight, 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
