And recite to them the news of Abraham, 69 When he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said, “We worship idols, and we keep squatting in seclusion before them.” 71 He said, “Do they hear you when you call?” 72 “Or do they benefit you or harm you?” 73 They said, “In fact we found our forefathers doing likewise.” 74 He said: have ye observed that which ye worship 75 You and your fathers? 76 Surely they are enemies to me, but not (so) the Lord of the worlds; 77 “The One Who created me, so He will guide me.” 78 and Himself gives me to eat and drink, 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me, 80 He who will cause me to die and bring me back to life; 81 and who I am eager shall forgive me my offence on the Day of Doom. 82 My Lord, give me Judgment, and join me with the righteous, 83 give me a good name among later generations; 84 and place me among those who shall inherit the garden of bliss! 85 And forgive my father; verily he is of the erring. 86 And do not disgrace me on the day when they are raised from the graves, 87 on the Day of Judgment when neither wealth nor children will be of any benefit 88 except what is done in obedience to God with a submissive heart. 89 And the Garden shall be brought nigh to the God-fearing. 90 and the Fire will be uncovered for those who strayed, 91 It shall be said to them, 'Where is that you were serving 92 besides God? Will the idols help you? Can they help themselves?" 93 Then they will be thrown headlong into Hell, both they and the misguided ones, 94 "And the whole hosts of Iblis together. 95 They will say while contending therein, 96 "By God, we were plainly in error 97 When we equalled you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 And none but the guilty led us astray; 99 We have no intercessors now, 100 Nor a true friend; 101 But if we could but once return, we would be of the believers. 102 Surely, in that there is a sign, yet most of them do not believe. 103 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
