The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 2 when the mountains shall be set moving, 3 when the ten-months pregnant camels shall be abandoned, 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 And when the seas shall be filled, 6 And when the souls he paired, 7 And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked 8 for what sin she was slain, 9 the records of deeds are made public, 10 the heavens are unveiled, 11 And when the hell is kindled up, 12 And when the Garden is brought near;- 13 [then] each soul shall know what it has put forward. 14 No indeed; I swear by the alternating stars 15 Those that run [their courses] and disappear - 16 and the night as it darkly falls, 17 The rising dawn, 18 behold, this [divine writ] is indeed the [inspired] word of a noble apostle, 19 who is honored in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 One (to be) obeyed, and faithful in trust. 21 For, this fellow-man of yours is not a madman: 22 he indeed saw the message-bearer on the clear horizon; 23 and he is not one to begrudge others the knowledge [of whatever has been revealed to him] out of that which is beyond the reach of human Perception. 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 When whither go ye? 26 Verily this is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds: 27 for whosoever of you who would go straight; 28 And you do not please except that Allah please, the Lord of the worlds. 29
