When your Lord called upon Moses: "Go to the wicked people, 10 the people of Pharaoh, who refuse to be conscious of Me!" 11 'My Lord' he replied, 'I fear they will belie me 12 and "my breast is straitened and my tongue is not fluent; so send Aaron as well; 13 As for me, they hold the charge of a crime against me. I fear they will put me to death." 14 (It was) said: "By no means. Go with My signs, both of you. I am verily with you and I hear. 15 So go you to Pharaoh, and say, "Verily, I am the Messenger of the Lord of all Being; 16 ‘That you let the Descendants of Israel go with us.’” 17 [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] said [to Musa (Moses)]: "Did we not bring you up among us as a child? And you did dwell many years of your life with us. 18 and you did the deed which you did. You are certainly ungrateful." 19 Moses replied, "I did that when I was one of the misguided, 20 and I fled from you because I feared you. But [since] then my Sustainer has endowed me with the ability to judge [between right and wrong,] and has made me one of [His] message-bearers. 21 And this is the favour with which you taunt me -- that you have enslaved the Children of Israel?" 22 Pharaoh said: And what is the Lord of the Worlds? 23 He said: The Lord of the heavens and the earth and what is between them, if you would be sure. 24 Fir'awn said unto those around him: hear ye not? 25 He said, 'Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers, the ancients' 26 (Pharaoh) said: "Truly your messenger who has been sent to you is a veritable madman!" 27 He said: Lord of the East and the West and all that is between them, if ye did but understand. 28 Pharaoh said, "If you put forward any god other than me, I will surely put you in prison". 29 He said: What! even if I bring to you something manifest? 30 (Pharaoh) said: Produce it then, if thou art of the truthful! 31 So Moses threw down his staff and suddenly it appeared as a serpent, plainly visible. 32 And he drew forth his hand and lo! it was white to the beholders. 33
