Observedest thou him who turned away? 33 who gave a little, and then stopped? 34 Is with him knowledge of the unseen so that he seeth? 35 Or, has he not been told of that which is in the Scrolls of Moses 36 and of Abraham, who lived up to the trust? 37 Certainly no one will bear the responsibility of the sins of another, 38 And that for man shall be naught save that wherefor he endeavoureth. 39 That (the fruit of) his striving will soon come in sight: 40 then he shall be recompensed for it with the fullest recompense, 41 And that to your Lord is the goal- 42 And that He it is Who makes (men) laugh and makes (them) weep; 43 It is He who causes death and gives life. 44 and that it is He who created pairs, the male and the female, 45 From the small seed when it is adapted 46 and that [therefore] it is within His power to bring about a second life; 47 and that it is He alone who frees from want and causes to possess; 48 And that He only is the Lord of the star Sirius? 49 And that it is He (Allah) Who destroyed the former 'Ad (people), 50 And that Thamud! He left not. 51 and the people of Noah before -- certainly they did exceeding evil, and were insolent 52 And He destroyed the Overthrown Cities (of Sodom and Gomorrah). 53 so that there covered it that which covered. 54 Which of your Lord's benefits will you then dispute about? 55 This is a warner of the warners of old. 56 The approaching event has come near. 57 None beside Allah can disclose it. 58 Do you then marvel at this discourse, 59 And laugh and not weep? 60 and divert yourselves all the while? 61 So prostrate yourselves before God and worship him. ۩ 62
