I say the truth, and call the moon to witness, 32 and by the night when it recedes, 33 and by the day when it dawns (with its radiance), 34 Verily, that [hell-fire] is Indeed one of the great [forewarnings] 35 A warning for people -- 36 Whoever of you desires to progress or lag behind. 37 Every soul is held in pledge against its own deeds, 38 except the Companions of the Right. 39 In gardens, they shall ask each other 40 Of evil-doers: 41 "What was it that brought you to Hell?" 42 They will answer: We were not of those who prayed 43 “Nor used to feed the needy.” 44 We used to wade (in vain dispute) with (all) waders, 45 “And used to deny the Day of Justice.” 46 until certainty came upon us [in death]." 47 And so, of no benefit to them could be the intercession of any that would intercede for them. 48 Then what is wrong with them (i.e. the disbelievers) that they turn away from (receiving) admonition? 49 As if they were startled donkeys – 50 Fleeing away from a lion. 51 Rather each one of them desires that he should be given open Books. 52 No indeed; the truth is that they have no fear of the Hereafter. 53 Nay, verily. Lo! this is an Admonishment. 54 Let anyone who seeks guidance do so. 55 And they will not remember except that Allah wills. He is worthy of fear and adequate for [granting] forgiveness. 56
