The Sun (Al-Shams)

15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)

In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace

CONSIDER the sun and its radiant brightness, 1 By the moon when it followeth it, 2 Consider the day as it reveals the world, 3 and by the night when it draws a veil over it, 4 And [by] the sky and He who constructed it 5 The earth and its spreading out, 6 And the soul and Him Who made it perfect, 7 Then He inspired it to understand what is right and wrong for it; 8 He will indeed be successful who purifies it, 9 And he who confines it will surely come to grief. 10 The tribe of Thamud denied with rebellion. 11 When the most wretched of them was sent forth. 12 But the Messenger of Allah [Salih (Saleh)] said to them: "Be cautious! Fear the evil end. That is the she-camel of Allah! (Do not harm it) and bar it not from having its drink!" 13 Then they belied him and they hamstrung her; wherefore their Lord overwhelmed them for their crime, and made it equal. 14 for none [of them] had any fear of what might befall them. 15

Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
