۞ (And it is said unto the angels): Assemble those who did wrong, together with their wives and what they used to worship 22 besides God, and show them the way of hell. 23 And halt them, to be questioned: 24 "'What is the matter with you that ye help not each other?'" 25 Nay! on that day they shall be submissive. 26 And some of them draw near unto others, mutually questioning. 27 They say: Lo! ye used to come unto us, imposing, (swearing that ye spoke the truth). 28 They will reply: "Nay, ye yourselves had no Faith! 29 We had no power over you. In fact, you were a people rebellious. 30 So on us hath been justified the sentence of our Lord: verily we are to taste. 31 Therefore we perverted you, and we ourselves were perverts.' 32 So indeed they, that Day, will be sharing in the punishment. 33 Verily, thus shall We deal with all who were lost in sin: 34 for, behold, whenever they were told, "There is no deity save God," they would glory in their arrogance 35 And say: "What! shall we give up our gods for the sake of a Poet possessed?" 36 Nay, but he brought the Truth, and he confirmed those sent (before him). 37 You shall certainly taste the painful punishment: 38 although you shall not be requited for aught but what you were wont to do. 39 But for the sincere worshipers of Allah, 40 Those will have a provision determined - 41 Fruits of every kind, and they will be honoured 42 in the Gardens of Bliss 43 On couches, facing one another. 44 Cups of wine will be presented to them in rounds, from a spring flowing in front of them. 45 White, delicious to the drinkers, 46 there is neither sickness in it, nor intoxication. 47 And with them will be women limiting [their] glances, with large, [beautiful] eyes, 48 as if they were hidden pearls. 49 Then shall some of them advance to others, questioning each other. 50 One of them will say, "I had a companion who asked me, 51 Who used to say: 'Are you one of those who can testify to the truth? 52 What! when we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we then be certainly brought to judgment? 53 He says, 'Are you looking down?' 54 He looked down and saw (his friend) in the midst of Hell. 55 He will say to his friend in hell, "By God, you almost destroyed me. 56 “And were it not for the munificence of my Lord, I too would have been seized and brought forth (captive)!” 57 But then, [O my friends in paradise,] is it [really] so that we are not to die 58 [again,] beyond our previous death, and that we shall never [again] be made to suffer? 59 This will indeed be great happiness. 60 For the like of this, then, let the workers work. 61 Is that better by way of hospitality or the Zaqqum tree, 62 Verily We! We have made it a temptation for the wrong-doers. 63 It is a tree that grows at the bottom of Hell. 64 The shoots of its fruit-stalks are like the heads of Shayatin (devils); 65 (The people of Hell) will surely eat of it, filling their bellies with it. 66 then in addition to it they shall have a draught of boiling water to drink; 67 They can only return to hell. 68 They indeed found their fathers astray, 69 and rushed to follow them. 70 And assuredly many of the ancients went astray before them, 71 although, verily, We had sent warners unto them: 72 Then see how was the end of those warned, 73 Except the chosen slaves of Allah (faithful, obedient, and true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 74
