Whatever misfortune happens to you, is because on the things your hands have wrought, and for many (of them) He grants forgiveness. 30 You are not able to frustrate Him in the earth; and, apart from God, you have neither protector nor helper. 31 And among His Signs are the ships, in the sea, like mountains. 32 If it be His Will He can still the Wind: then would they become motionless on the back of the (ocean). Verily in this are Signs for everyone who patiently perseveres and is grateful. 33 Or He can ruin them due to peoples’ sins and He can forgive a great deal. 34 And let them know, those who call Our messages in question, that for them there is no escape. 35 Whatever you have received is only for usage in the life of this world, and that which is with Allah is much better and more lasting for those who believe and rely upon their Lord. 36 (This reward will be for) those who keep away from major sins and indecency, who forgive when they are made angry, 37 And those who answer the Call of their Lord [i.e. to believe that He is the only One Lord (Allah), and to worship none but Him Alone], and perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat), and who (conduct) their affairs by mutual consultation, and who spend of what We have bestowed on them; 38 who, when they are attacked, defend themselves. 39 Let harm be requited by an equal harm. But whoever pardons and amends will find his reward with God. He does not love the wrongdoers. 40 And there is no way of reproach against those who take revenge after being wronged. 41 Only those who do injustice to people and commit rebellion on earth for no reason will be questioned. They will suffer a painful torment. 42 But he who patiently endures and forgives, that is a conduct of great resolve. 43
