HAST THOU, then, ever considered him who turns away [from remembering Us, and cares for no more than the life of this world,] 33 and gives so little [of himself for the good of his soul,] and so grudgingly? 34 Hath he knowledge of the Unseen so that he seeth? 35 Has not he been informed of the contents of the Book of Moses 36 And [of] Abraham, who fulfilled [his obligations] - 37 That no soul shall bear another's burden, 38 nor can man achieve anything without hard labor. 39 And that his striving shall soon be seen- 40 then, he shall be recompensed for it in full repayment 41 And that to your Lord is your returning; 42 that it is He who causes to laugh and causes to weep. 43 And that it is He who causes death and gives life 44 and that it is He who created pairs, the male and the female, 45 From a seed when lodged (in its place); 46 That the second creation is incumbent on Him; 47 And that He it is Who enriches and gives to hold; 48 And that He it is Who is the Lord of Sirius; 49 And that He did destroy the Ad of old 50 And destroyed the tribe of Thamud, not sparing anyone? 51 And before them, the people of Noah, for that they were (all) most unjust and most insolent transgressors, 52 And the overthrown cities did He overthrow, 53 So that there covered them that which did cover. 54 Then which of thy Lord's bounties disputest thou? 55 THIS IS a warning like those warnings of old: 56 that [Last Hour] which is so near draws ever nearer, 57 There is no one to unveil it apart from God. 58 Marvel ye then at this statement, 59 And laugh and not weep? 60 Will you occupy yourselves simply in merriment? 61 Rather, prostrate to Allah and worship Him. ۩ 62
True are the words of God the Almighty.
End of Surah: The Stars (Al-Najm). Sent down in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
