The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 About the great news - 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 and the night as a cover, 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 And dense gardens. 16 Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 Living therein for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 a fitting requital, 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30
