The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
CONSIDER those [stars] that rise only to set, 1 By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed); 2 And by those who float in space, 3 By the angels hastening, 4 by the managers (angels) affair. 5 The day the convulsive (first blast) shatters convulsively 6 followed by the succeeding, 7 On that day hearts beat painfully 8 Cast down will be (their owners') eyes. 9 They say, "What? shall we be brought back to life, 10 "Even after we are crumbled bones?" 11 They said, “So this return is an obvious loss!” 12 But it shall be only a single scare, 13 And lo! they will be awakened. 14 Did the news of Moosa reach you? 15 Behold, thy Lord did call to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa:- 16 "Go thou to Pharaoh for he has indeed transgressed all bounds: 17 "And say to him, 'Wouldst thou that thou shouldst be purified (from sin)?- 18 I shall guide you to your Lord so that you may perhaps have fear of Him". 19 So Moosa showed him a magnificent sign. 20 But [Pharaoh] gave him the lie and rebelliously rejected [all guidance,] 21 Then he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). 22 And he gathered [his people] and called out 23 And he said: I am your Lord, most high. 24 So Allah seized him in exemplary punishment for the last and the first [transgression]. 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). 26
