He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 Now as for him who believes himself to be self-sufficient 5 to a rich man, 6 although thou art not accountable for his failure to attain to purity; 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 And he fears, 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 For any one who desires to bear it in mind, 12 upon pages high-honoured, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Noble and righteous. 16 Cursed be man! how ungrateful is he! 17 From what stuff hath He created him? 18 From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him. 19 and then made the course of life easy for him, 20 Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 How We pour water in showers 25 and let the earth to break open 26 And produce therein corn, 27 And grapes and fodder, 28 And olive and palm trees 29 and dense orchards, 30 And fruits and grasses: 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 So when the deafening Shout arrives, 33 On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 wife and sons, 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 Some faces on that day will be radiant, 38 laughing, joyous; 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 o'erspread with darkness -- 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked. 42
