Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you? 1 On that Day, there shall be downcast faces, 2 Travailing, worn. 3 roasting at a scorching fire, 4 Given water from the boiling spring to drink. 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 well pleased with their striving, 9 In a lofty garden, 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 Therein shall be couches elevated! 13 And cups put in place 14 and arranged cushions 15 and well spread carpets. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 And the earth, how it is made a vast expanse? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 Then it will be for Us to call them to account. 26
