So when the apostles came to Lut's followers, 61 He said: "You are people I do not know." 62 They said: "Yea, we have come to thee to accomplish that of which they doubt. 63 And we have come to you with the truth, and we are most surely truthful. 64 "So leave with your family late in the night, yourself remaining in the rear, and let none turn back to look, and go where you will be commanded." 65 And We made plain the case to him, that the root of them (who did wrong) was to be cut at early morn. 66 The people of the city came to him rejoicing. 67 Said Lot: "These are my guests; do not put me to shame, 68 Have fear of God and do not humiliate me". 69 They said, 'Have we not forbidden thee all beings?' 70 He said, "Here are my daughters, if you must act in this way." 71 By thy life (O Muhammad) they moved blindly in the frenzy of approaching death. 72 Then the shout took hold of them at the sunrise. 73 And We made the highest part [of the city] its lowest and rained upon them stones of hard clay. 74 Surely in that are signs for such as mark; 75 And indeed, those cities are [situated] on an established road. 76 Lo! therein is indeed a portent for believers. 77 The dwellers of the Thicket were harmdoers. 78 So We took vengeance on them. And verily both are on a high-road open. 79
