۞ IT IS GOD who has made the sea subservient [to His laws, so that it be of use] to you so that ships might sail through it at His behest, and that you might seek to obtain [what you need] of His bounty, and that you might have cause to be grateful. 12 He has subjected to you all that is in the heavens and the earth, all being from Him. Verily there are Signs in this for those who reflect. 13 Say, [O Muhammad], to those who have believed that they [should] forgive those who expect not the days of Allah so that He may recompense a people for what they used to earn. 14 He who does good does so for himself; and he who does evil suffers the consequence thereof. You have then to go back to your Lord. 15 AND, INDEED, [already] unto the children of Israel did We vouchsafe revelation, and wisdom, and prophethood; and We provided for them sustenance out of the good things of life, and favoured them above all other people [of their time]. 16 And gave them clear proofs in matters [by revealing to them the Taurat (Torah)]. And they differed not until after the knowledge came to them, through envy among themselves. Verily, Your Lord will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection about that wherein they used to differ. 17 And thereafter We have placed thee upon the law of the religion; so follow it thou, and follow not the vain desires of those who know not. 18 Surely they shall not avail you in the least against Allah; and surely the unjust are friends of each other, and Allah is the guardian of those who guard (against evil). 19 These are clear proofs for men, and a guidance and a mercy for a people who are sure. 20 Do the people who commit evil think that We shall make their life and death like that of the righteously striving believers? How terrible is their Judgment! 21
