The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
The Last Day came near, and the moon split apart. 1 Whenever they see a miracle, they turn away from it and say, "This is just a powerful magic". 2 They also gave the lie to (the splitting asunder of the moon) and only followed their desires. Yet everything is destined to reach an end. 3 there has come to them many a tiding wherein there are warnings, 4 Extensive wisdom - but warning does not avail [them]. 5 turn thou away from them. On the Day when the Summoning Voice will summon [man] unto something that the mind cannot conceive, 6 With downcast eyes, they come forth from the graves as they were locusts spread abroad, 7 Rushing towards the caller; the disbelievers will say, “This is a tough day.” 8 ۞ The people of Noah denied before them, and they denied Our servant and said, "A madman," and he was repelled. 9 Thereupon he called out to his Sustainer, "Verily, I am defeated; come Thou, then, to my succour!" 10 Then We opened the gates of heaven unto water torrential, 11 And caused the earth to burst with springs, and the waters met for a matter already predestined. 12 And We bore him upon a well-planked vessel well-caulked 13 running before Our eyes-a recompense for him denied. 14 We made (the story of Noah) as evidence of the Truth. However, is there anyone who would take heed? 15 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 16 And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? 17 The tribe of A’ad denied – so how did My punishment turn out, and My warnings? 18 Behold, We let loose upon them a raging storm wind on a day of bitter misfortune: 19 which hurled people around like uprooted trunks of palm-trees. 20 How terrible was Our torment and the result of (their disregard) of Our warning. 21 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished! 22
