He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 But what would make you perceive, [O Muhammad], that perhaps he might be purified 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 For him who does not care, 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] 8 and who has fear of God, 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 By no means (should it be so)! For it is indeed a Message of instruction: 11 So whoever wishes may remember it. 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 Exalted and purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 Noble and pious. 16 Woe to man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him. 19 and then makes it easy for him to go through life; 20 Then He causes him to die, then assigns to him a grave, 21 Then when He listeth, He shall raise him to life. 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 For that We pour forth water in abundance, 25 And We split the earth in clefts, 26 And cause the grain to grow therein 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 olives, dates, 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 and fruits and fodder 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 But when the deafening cry shall be sounded 33 upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 As well as his wife and children. 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 laughing, joyous; 39 And other faces that Day will be dust-stained, 40 Covered with the blackness (of shame): 41 those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. 42
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
