And whatever calamity befalls you, is because of what your hands have earned – and there is a great deal He pardons! 30 And you cannot escape in the earth, and you shall not have a guardian or a helper besides Allah. 31 And among His signs are the ships in the sea like mountains. 32 If He pleases, He causes the wind to become still so that they lie motionless on its back; most surely there are signs in this for every patient, grateful one, 33 Or He can cause them to perish because of the (evil) which (the men) have earned; but much doth He forgive. 34 He knows all those who dispute His revelations. They will find no way to escape from (His torment). 35 Whatever you have received is just a means of enjoyment for this life but the reward of God for the believers and those who trust in their Lord will be better and everlasting. 36 And those who avoid the major sins and indecencies and, when angered, forgive; 37 and who respond to [the call of] their Sustainer and are constant in prayer; and whose rule [in all matters of common concern] is consultation among themselves; and who spend on others out of what We provide for them as sustenance; 38 And those who, when great wrong afflicts them, defend themselves. 39 The meed of an ill-deed is an ill the like thereunto; but whosoever pardoneth and amendeth, his hire is on Allah; verily He approveth not the wrong-doers. 40 And whosoever helps himself after he has been wronged -- against them there is no way. 41 The way (of blame) is only against those who oppress mankind, and wrongfully rebel in the earth. For such there is a painful doom. 42 But indeed if any show patience and forgive, that would truly be an exercise of courageous will and resolution in the conduct of affairs. 43
