The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
HAS THERE [not] been an endless span of time before man [appeared - a time] when he was not yet a thing to be thought of? 1 Indeed, We created man from a sperm-drop mixture that We may try him; and We made him hearing and seeing. 2 We surely showed him the way that he may either be grateful or deny. 3 Indeed, We have prepared for the disbelievers chains and shackles and a blaze. 4 As to the Righteous, they shall drink of a Cup (of Wine) mixed with Kafur,- 5 A spring of which the [righteous] servants of Allah will drink; they will make it gush forth in force [and abundance]. 6 These will be the ones who fulfil their vows and dread the Day whose woe shall be spread far and wide; 7 And they give food, inspite of their love for it (or for the love of Him), to Miskin (poor), the orphan, and the captive, 8 (Saying): We feed you, for the sake of Allah only. We wish for no reward nor thanks from you; 9 behold, we stand in awe of our Sustainer's judgment on a distressful, fateful Day!" 10 God will certainly rescue them from the terror of that day and will meet them with joy and pleasure. 11 and will reward them for their steadfastness with Paradise and robes of silk. 12 In that [garden] they will on couches recline, and will know therein neither [burning] sun nor cold severe, 13 And near above them are its shades, and its [fruit] to be picked will be lowered in compliance. 14 Goblets of silver are brought round for them, and beakers (as) of glass 15 (Transparent as) glass, made of silver; they have measured them according to a measure. 16 And they will be given to drink there a cup (of wine) mixed with Zanjabil (ginger, etc.), 17 (The water of) a spring therein, named Salsabil. 18 ۞ They will be served by immortal youths who look like scattered pearls. 19 When thou seest, thou wilt see there bliss and high estate. 20 Upon the inhabitants will be green garments of fine silk and brocade. And they will be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord will give them a purifying drink. 21 Surely this is a reward for you, and your striving shall be recompensed. 22
