The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so);- 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 And it unburdens itself of all that is in it, and becomes empty. 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 No! I swear by the twilight 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 What then is the matter with them, that they believe not?- 20 And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)? ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
