If affliction befalls you, it is what your own hands have earned, but He pardons a lot. 30 You cannot frustrate Him in the earth; you have no protector nor helper against Allah. 31 And of His signs are the ships in the sea like landmarks. 32 If He willed, He could still the wind, and they would remain motionless on its surface. Indeed in that are signs for everyone patient and grateful. 33 Or He wrecks them for what they have earned; and He pardons much; 34 And for those who dispute regarding Our signs to realise; that they do not have a place to escape to. 35 So whatever you have been given is but a passing enjoyment for this worldly life, but that which is with Allah (Paradise) is better and more lasting for those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah Islamic Monotheism) and put their trust in their Lord (concerning all of their affairs). 36 who eschew grave sins and shameful deeds, and whenever they are angry, forgive; 37 and who respond to [the call of] their Sustainer and are constant in prayer; and whose rule [in all matters of common concern] is consultation among themselves; and who spend on others out of what We provide for them as sustenance; 38 and who, when insolence visits them, do help themselves -- 39 and the recompense of evil is evil the like of it; but whoso pardons and puts things right, his wage falls upon God; surely He loves not the evildoers. 40 And whosoever helps himself after he has been wronged -- against them there is no way. 41 The way of blame is only against those who wrong mankind, and rebel in the earth without justice; these! for them is a torment afflictive. 42 But withal, if one is patient in adversity and forgives - this, behold, is indeed something to set one's heart upon! 43
