NAY, but consider the moon! 32 And by the Night as it retreateth, 33 And by oath of the morning, when it spreads light. 34 surely (Hell) is one of the greatest Signs, 35 A warning to mankind, 36 Unto him of you who will advance or hang back. 37 Every soul is a pledge for its own deeds; 38 Except the companions of the right, 39 who shall be in the Gardens, and shall ask 40 About the guilty: 41 “What drove you to Hell?” 42 They shall say: We were not of those who prayed; 43 and we did not feed the poor; 44 “And used to dwell on evil matters with those who think evilly.” 45 And we used to call the day of judgment a lie; 46 Until there came to us the certainty." 47 Then the intercession of the intercessors shall not profit them. 48 What is the matter with people that they are turning away from this Exhortation, 49 as if they were startled asses 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 Aye! every one of them desireth that: he should be vouchsafed scrolls expanded. 52 No, indeed they have no fear of the Everlasting Life. 53 but this is truly a reminder. 54 Let him who will take heed: 55 But none will remember, unless Allah wills, He is the Owner of fear, the Owner of forgiveness. 56
