The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 On that Day when the trumpet shall be sounded, you shall come in droves, 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
