The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
22 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Sun (Al-Shams) before The Fig (Al-Teen)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the sky containing great stars 1 And the promised day, 2 And [by] the witness and what is witnessed, 3 The companions of the pit were killed 4 Of fire fuel-fed, 5 Lo! [With glee do] they contemplate that [fire,] 6 to watch what they were doing to the believers, 7 The only reason for which they tormented the believers was the latter's belief in God, the Majestic, and Praiseworthy. 8 to whom belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth. God is witness over all things. 9 Surely (as for) those who persecute the believing men and the believing women, then do not repent, they shall have the chastisement of hell, and they shall have the chastisement of burning. 10 Those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for them await gardens underneath which rivers flow; that is the great triumph. 11 Indeed the seizure of your Lord is very severe. 12 Lo! He it is Who produceth, then reproduceth, 13 And He is the Forgiving, and the Loving. 14 Owner of the throne, the Glorious 15 and the Most Effective in His decision. 16 Has not there come to you the story of the hosts, 17 (The armies of) Firaun and the tribe of Thamud. 18 Yet the unbelievers still belie, 19 But God surrounds them from all sides. 20 Nay; but this is a glorious Qur'an, 21 upon an imperishable tablet [inscribed]. 22
True are the words of God the Almighty.
