The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Recite thou in the name of thy Lord Who hath created 1 Created man, out of a (mere) clot of congealed blood: 2 Read - for thy Sustainer is the Most Bountiful One 3 The One Who taught to write with the pen. 4 He taught the human being what he did not know. 5 And yet, but yet man is rebellious, 6 Because he considers himself self-sufficient. 7 for, behold, unto thy Sustainer all must return. 8 Have you seen him who forbids 9 a servant when he prays -- 10 Have you seen if he is upon guidance 11 or is concerned with God-consciousness? 12 What will happen if the prohibiting rejects the Truth and turns away from it!? 13 Does he not know that Allah sees? 14 Indeed, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock, 15 The lying, sinful forelock - 16 Then, let him call his assembly, 17 We too shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 (Muhammad), never yield to him! Prostrate yourself and try to come closer to God. ۩ 19
