۞ AND, INDEED, long before [the time of Moses] We vouchsafed unto Abraham his consciousness of what is right; and We were aware of [what moved] him 51 When he said to his father and his people: "What are these idols to which you cling so passionately?" 52 They said:"We found our fathers worshipping them." 53 He said: assuredly ye, ye and your fathers, have been in error manifest. 54 They said, "Have you brought us the truth or are you jesting?" 55 He said: Nay, but your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, Who created them; and I am of those who testify unto that. 56 "And by Allah, I have a plan for your idols - after ye go away and turn your backs".. 57 He broke all the idols into pieces, except the biggest among them so that perhaps people would refer to it. 58 They said, “Who has done this to our Gods? He is indeed cruel!” 59 They said, 'We heard a young man making mention of them, and he was called Abraham.' 60 [The others] said: "Then bring him before the peoples eyes, so that they might bear witness [against him]!" 61 They said, "Art thou the one that did this with our gods, O Abraham?" 62 He said: rather he hath wrought it, this big one of them; so question them, if they ever speak. 63 So they turned to themselves and said, "Surely ye are the ones in the wrong!" 64 Then they were made to hang down their heads: Certainly you know that they do not speak. 65 He said: worship ye, then, beside Allah, that which profiteth you not at all, nor it hurteth you? 66 Fie upon you and upon all that you worship beside Allah. Do you have no sense?" 67 They exclaimed: "Burn him, and [thereby] succour your gods, if you are going to do [anything]!" 68 We said: "O fire, become coolness and safety for Abraham." 69 and whereas they sought to do evil unto him, We caused them to suffer the greatest loss: 70 So We delivered him and Lot, and brought them to the land We had blessed for all the people. 71 And We bestowed upon him Isaac and [Isaac's son] Jacob as an additional gift and caused all of them to be righteous men, 72 and appointed them to be leaders guiding by Our command, and We revealed to them the doing of good deeds, and to perform the prayer, and to pay the alms, and Us they served. 73 To Lot, We gave judgment and knowledge and saved him from the village that had been committing corrupt deeds; for they were an evil nation and were debauched. 74 And We admitted him into Our mercy; indeed he is among those who deserve Our proximity. 75

Notes and Instructions
قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
