In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By those who range themselves in ranks, 1 By the angels driving away. 2 And those who recite the message, 3 Indeed, your God is One, 4 Lord of the heavens and the earth and whatsoever is in-between the twain, and Lord of the easts. 5 We have adorned the lower heaven with the adornment of the stars 6 and guarded it against all rebellious devils: 7 they listen not to the High Council, for they are pelted from every side, 8 And kept far away. There is perpetual punishment for them, 9 except such as snatches a fragment, and he is pursued by a piercing flame. 10 Ask them thou: are they stronger in structure or those others whom We have created? Verily We! We have created them of a sticky clay. 11 Nay, but whereas thou dost marvel, they [only] scoff; 12 And, when they are admonished, pay no heed,- 13 and, when they see a sign, would scoff; 14 And they say: Lo! this is mere magic; 15 When we have died and become dust and bones, are we indeed to be resurrected? 16 And our forefathers? 17 Tell them: “Yes; and you are utterly helpless (against Allah).” 18 It will be only one shout, and at once they will be observing. 19 and they say, 'Woe, alas for us! This is the Day of Doom.' 20 This is the Day of Separation, which ye used to deny. 21

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
