The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the Mount; 1 And the Book written 2 In parchment unrolled. 3 by the much-visited House, 4 And the elevated canopy 5 And by the Ocean filled with Swell;- 6 verily your Lord's chastisement shall come to pass, 7 There is none who could avert it. 8 Upon the day when heaven spins dizzily 9 The mountains move and fly away, 10 Will be the day of woe for those 11 all those who [throughout their lives] but idly played with things vain 12 The Day when they will be pushed down by force to the Fire of Hell, with a horrible, forceful pushing. 13 "This:, it will be said, "Is the Fire,- which ye were wont to deny! 14 Is this magic? or ye still see not clearly! 15 “Enter it – now whether you patiently bear it or are impatient – it is the same for you; for you is a recompense only for what you used to do.” 16 But in the Gardens the righteous shall live in bliss, 17 Enjoying the (Bliss) which their Lord hath bestowed on them, and their Lord shall deliver them from the Penalty of the Fire. 18 Eat and drink with relish for that which ye have been working. 19 reclining on couches [of happiness] ranged in rows!" And [in that paradise] We shall mate them with companions pure, most beautiful of eye. 20 To those who have attained to faith We shall unite their offspring who have also followed them in faith, and We shall not let any of their good deeds go unrewarded; every human being is a pledge for whatever he has earned. 21 We shall provide them in abundance with such fruit and meat as they desire. 22 and in that [paradise] they shall pass on to one another a cup which will not give rise to empty talk, and neither incite to sin. 23 ۞ And there will go round on them youths appointed to attend them as though they were pearls hidden. 24 They will ask each other questions, 25 They will say: verily we were aforetime, midst our household, ever in dread. 26 God has been gracious to us and has saved us from the torment of Hell's intense heat -- 27 Verily, we did invoke Him [alone] ere this: [and now He has shown us] that He alone is truly benign, a true dispenser of grace!" 28
