Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ The true event! 1 What is the concrete reality? 2 And what could make thee conceive what that laying-bare of the truth will be? 3 The Thamud and 'Ad denied the consequential calamity. 4 But the Thamud,- they were destroyed by a terrible Storm of thunder and lightning! 5 And the 'Ad were destroyed by the furious cold blast of roaring wind 6 He forced it upon them with strength, consecutively for seven nights and eight days so you would see those people overthrown in it, like trunks of date palms fallen down. 7 Can you see any of their survivors? 8 And there was Pharaoh, too, and [many of] those who lived before him, and the cities that were overthrown - [all of them] indulged in sin upon sin 9 and they rebelled against the Messenger of their Lord, and He seized them with a surpassing grip. 10 Lo, when the waters rose, We bore you in the running ship 11 making it a Reminder for you, for all attentive ears to retain. 12 So, when the Trumpet is blown with a single blast 13 And the earth and the mountains shall be borne and the twain shall be crushed with a single crash. 14 On that day shall the great event come to pass, 15 The sky will cleave asunder on that day and fall to pieces. 16 and the angels shall stand upon its borders, and upon that day eight shall carry above them the Throne of thy Lord. 17 On that Day you shall be brought to judgment: not [even] the most hidden of your deeds will remain hidden. 18 So as for he who is given his record in his right hand, he will say, "Here, read my record! 19 I was sure that the record of my deeds would be shown to me". 20 So he shall be in a life of pleasure, 21 In a lofty Paradise, 22 Its [fruit] to be picked hanging near. 23 Eat and drink pleasantly for what you did beforehand in the days gone by. 24 But as for him whose record shall be placed in his left hand, he will exclaim: "Oh, would that I had never been shown this my record, 25 "And that I had never known, how my Account is? 26 Oh, would that it had been the ending! 27 My wealth has not availed me. 28 "My power has perished from me!"... 29 (It will be said): Take him and fetter him 30 Then into Hellfire drive him. 31 Then thrust him into a chain the length of which is seventy cubits. 32 Surely he did not believe in Allah, the Great, 33 “And did not urge to feed the needy.” 34 therefore he today has not here one loyal friend, 35 nor any food save the filth 36 Which none but the hellish eat." 37
