The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Has there come on man a while of time when he was a thing unremembered? 1 Verily We created man from a sperm yoked (to the ovum) to bring out his real substance, then gave him hearing and sight. 2 Verily We! We shewed him the way; then he becometh either thankful or ingrate. 3 We have indeed kept prepared chains, and shackles and a blazing fire for the disbelievers. 4 Indeed, the righteous will drink from a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of Kafur, 5 The Kafoor is a spring, from which the chosen bondmen of Allah will drink, causing it to flow wherever they wish inside their palaces. 6 They fulfil their pledges, and fear a day the evil of which is widespread. 7 And they give food in spite of love for it to the needy, the orphan, and the captive, 8 (Saying): "We feed you seeking Allah's Countenance only. We wish for no reward, nor thanks from you. 9 We fear the dismal day calamitous from our Lord." 10 So God will protect them from the evil of that day, and grant them happiness and joy, 11 And gave them Paradise and silk clothes, as a reward for their patience. 12 They will recline therein on couches and they will find neither excessive heat nor cold. 13 The shades of Paradise will bend over them, and its fruits will be brought within their easy reach; 14 Goblets of silver are brought round for them, and beakers (as) of glass 15 Godblets of silver, they shall have filled them to exact measure. 16 There are they watered with a cup whereof the mixture is of Zanjabil, 17 Which is a spring in Paradise called Salsabeel. 18 ۞ And there shall go round unto them youths ever-young. When thou seest them thou wouldst deem them pearls unstrung. 19 And when thou lookest, it is there thou wilt see a Bliss and a Realm Magnificent. 20 Upon them shall be green garments of silk and brocade; they are adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord shall give them to drink a pure draught. 21 [And it will be said], "Indeed, this is for you a reward, and your effort has been appreciated." 22
