The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
I swear by the angels who violently pull out the souls of the wicked, 1 and gently take it away; 2 By the lone stars floating, 3 Then press forward as in a race, 4 And who plan the implementation. 5 Upon the day when the first blast shivers 6 and the second blast follows it, 7 Hearts will pound loudly on that day, 8 [and] their eyes downcast... 9 They say: Shall we indeed be restored to (our) first state? 10 What, when we are bones old and wasted?' 11 They say: that then shall be a losing return. 12 Surely they will need no more than a single stern blast, 13 to bring them out of their graves and back to life on the earth's surface. 14 Has there reached you the story of Moses? - 15 Lo! His Sustainer called out to him in the twice-hallowed valley: 16 'Go to Pharaoh; he has waxed insolent. 17 And say to him: "Would you purify yourself (from the sin of disbelief by becoming a believer)", 18 I shall guide you to your Lord so that you may perhaps have fear of Him". 19 Then [Musa (Moses)] showed him the great sign (miracles). 20 but he denied it as false and disobeyed, 21 Then he turned back striving. 22 Then he gathered his people and cried aloud, 23 Then he said: I am your lord, the most high. 24 Thereupon Allah seized him for the chastisement of the World to Come as well as of the present. 25 Surely there is a great lesson in it for whoever would fear (Allah). 26
