And rehearse to them (something of) Abraham's story. 69 When he said to his father and his people: What do you worship? 70 They said, “We worship idols, and we keep squatting in seclusion before them.” 71 He said: Do they hear you when you call? 72 'Can they benefit you or harm you' 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing so." 74 He said, “Do you see these – (the idols) whom you worship?” 75 and what your grandfathers worshipped 76 They are an enemy to me, except the Lord of all Being 77 "Who created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 "Who gives me food and drink, 79 He who cures me when I am ill; 80 Who will make me die, then give me life again, 81 "And who, I hope, will forgive me my faults on the day of Judgment. 82 My Lord: Grant me wisdom, and join me with the good 83 And give unto me a good report in later generations. 84 “And make me among the inheritors of the Gardens of serenity.” 85 and forgive my father, for he was among the astray. 86 "And let me not be in disgrace on the Day when (men) will be raised up;- 87 the Day when wealth and sons will be of no avail, 88 Save him who bringeth unto Allah a whole heart. 89 And Paradise will be brought close for the pious. 90 and Hell shall be revealed to the misguided, 91 and they will be asked: "Where are the gods that you worshipped 92 Besides Allah? Can they help you or yet help themselves? 93 Then they shall be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 and the hosts of Iblis, all together. 95 "They will say there in their mutual bickerings: 96 “By oath of Allah, we were indeed in open error.” 97 when we considered you equal to the Lord of the Universe. 98 It was the evildoers who led us astray, 99 and we have no intercessors now, 100 "'Nor a single friend to feel (for us). 101 Were there for us a return, we would be of the believers. 102 Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 103 surely, your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 104
