Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the (Winds) that scatter broadcast; 1 which carry clouds laden with water, 2 and the smooth runners 3 by the angels which distribute the affairs, 4 Verily, that which you are promised (i.e. Resurrection in the Hereafter and receiving the reward or punishment of good or bad deeds, etc.) is surely true. 5 and the recompense shall surely happen. 6 By the heaven full of paths, 7 Truly ye are in a doctrine discordant, 8 From which only he turns who is turned away. 9 Cursed be the liars, 10 Who are in a gulf (of ignorance) neglectful; 11 They ask: "When is the Day of Judgement?" -- 12 (It will be) a Day when they will be tried (and tested) over the Fire! 13 (And it will be said unto them): Taste your torment (which ye inflicted). This is what ye sought to hasten. 14 Verily, the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2) will be in the midst of Gardens and Springs (in the Paradise), 15 Taking joy in the things which their Lord has given them. Verily, they were before this Muhsinun (good-doers - see V. 2:112). 16 They used to sleep only a little during the night. 17 and at dawn would ask forgiveness, 18 and in their wealth there was a rightful share for him who would ask and for the destitute. 19 And on the earth are signs for the certain [in faith] 20 And also in your ownselves. Will you not then see? 21 And in the heaven lies your sustenance, and the promise you are given. 22 So, by the Lord of the heaven and the earth, this is certainly true, as true as the fact of your speaking. 23
