The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I CALL TO witness the sky (bespangled) with the signs of the Zodiac, 1 And by the Promised Day. 2 And by the witnessing day (i.e. Friday), and by the witnessed day [i.e. the day of 'Arafat (Hajj) the ninth of Dhul-Hijjah]; 3 (Self-)destroyed were the owners of the ditch 4 The people of the fuelled blazing fire. 5 Behold! they sat over against the (fire), 6 to watch what they were doing to the believers, 7 They had nothing against them, except that they believed in Allah, the All-Mighty, Worthy of all Praise! 8 Him to Whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth! And Allah is Witness to all things. 9 Those who persecuted the believing men and women and never repented, there is for them the punishment of Gehenna (Hell), and for them the punishment of the burning. 10 (But) for those who believe and do good works, for them there are Gardens underneath which rivers flow that is the Great Victory! 11 Surely thy Lord's assault is terrible. 12 it is He who begins and repeats [His creation], 13 And He is the Fogiving, the Loving, 14 Lord of the Throne, the Glorious, 15 and the Most Effective in His decision. 16 Has the story of the hordes 17 Of Pharaoh and Thamud come to you? 18 In fact, the disbelievers had always rejected (Our revelations). 19 God encompasses them from all sides. 20 Nay! it is a glorious Quran, 21 In a guarded tablet. 22
